ProgrammeCHART 2025–2028
Efficient design of low-temperature superconducting magnet systems needs precise mechanical characterisation and constitutive modelling at the Rutherford cable-stack level. The project analyses the anisotropic finite deformation behaviour of impregnated 10-stacks made from Nb3Sn Rutherford cables and captures the observed behaviour in a detailed constitutive model implemented in a finite element program. It also develops standard testing and analysis procedures for future material characterisation, modelling and design activities.
