As part of the international FCC-ee study, the project designs and optimises the electron and positron linear accelerators of the injection chain, including the electron guns, the positron production and capture systems, and the positron damping ring. Evaluating and optimising the accelerator costs and preparing an advanced CDR are an integral part of the study. For positron production it studies a concept using superconducting magnet technology and high-field RF capture cavities, and validates that concept with a demonstrator using the SwissFEL 6 GeV linac as target driver.
