The project establishes a body of knowledge on the multiphysical properties of advanced superconductors. One part is a comprehensive research programme characterising the electrical and electromechanical properties of state-of-the-art and R&D Nb3Sn wires, in support of Nb3Sn accelerator magnets with improved performance. The other explores HTS-based technology for the next generation of particle accelerators, focusing on the critical surface of state-of-the-art and R&D REBCO coated conductors at variable temperature, field intensity and orientation.
