FCChh Stability
Long term coherent stability and diffusion studies for the Future Circular Hadron Colliders
The project studies coherent beam-beam effects and beam-beam induced particle losses for the FCC-hh and the HE-LHC, and the stability of beams in the presence of the machine impedance and the beam-beam interaction. It defines Landau damping properties and beam dynamics under strong active transverse feedback, determines optimum crossing-angle schemes, and studies noise effects on colliding beams together with beam-beam related orbit effects. Single- and multi-particle characterisation covers the beam dynamics and the time evolution of parameters across different scenarios, and the work explores possible mitigation techniques and validates the models by benchmarking against operational data.
