Designing the FCC trajectory requires knowing the subsurface geology that the tunnel and the access shafts will cross. The project works on two fronts. It establishes a GIS-based subsurface dataset and database architecture supporting the feasibility and execution of the FCC tunnelling work, by defining a standard data framework for new data. And it builds a consistent high-resolution 3D geological model, supported by quantitative geological analysis along the FCC trace, to predict geological features and possible risks for tunnelling design, planning and execution.
